A small town is plagued by a hopping Chinese vampire. This mystery-tinged “Martial Arts World” epic was one of director Chu Yuan and novelist Ku Lung’s last together for the Shaw Studios, but it’s another action-filled winner. This unrelated sequel can’t live up to the original Long Arm of the Law. While the first film used realism to affect, entertain and disturb, this sequel resorts to clichés and contrived plot devices to further the story. The plot here is about the efforts of the HK Police to stop a rise in violent crime by illegal immigrants from China. After Wang Chen-Kang, a kung fu master of the “Shadow Gate School” is killed, his only son Wang Tsung-Wen (Billy Chong) is accepted as a pupil in the Cheong Hsing Martial Art school, working in the kitchen to pay for his lessons, he finds that they cook, Chang Tien Hsiang (Simon Yuen) is a veteran “Shadow Gate Boxer”. His enemies join forces to take revenge on Chang, raid the school and beat up Wang. Chang is impressed by the boy’s courage and agrees to teach him his kung fu skills. Later Chang learns that Wang is the son of his beloved pupil. Young Wang uses his knowledge to beat his adversaries, “Blind Chen” and “Deaf Cha,” making the former deaf and the latter blind in the ultimate encounter, he uses all his fighting tactics to avenge not only his father’s death but also to eliminate all the villains to old Chang’s delight.

Although “King Cat” was one of Chang I’s earliest films, the young actor was already showing the promise that would make him the star of countless Shaw Brothers’ martial arts movies.
